So, where can one go to practice their new-found dance skills?  Unfortunately, in Prince George the options are limited...  it is a redneck town after all.   However, there are some decent places to go and cut a rug.

Nelly's Pub

  •  2280 Hart Highway (next to YRB yard)

No cover charge.  Live local bands on Friday and Saturday nights; canned music is piped in between sets.   Linoleum dance floor is small but not very busy.

Royal Canadian Legion

  •  1355 Seventh Avenue (between the Four Seasons Pool and the Coast Hotel)
  •  Open Monday-Thursday 11:30 am-11 pm, Friday & Saturday 11:30am-1:30pm, Sunday 12:00pm-11:00pm

Everyone welcome, though typically a more mature crowd.   Live local country bands Friday and Saturday 8:30-12:30pm.  Large linoleum dance floor.   Patrons can also enjoy billiards, darts, cribbage, satellite TV, Keno, and karaoke (Thursday & Sunday evenings 'til 11).  Facility includes a restaurant.

Prince George Blues Underground Network

Local non-profit organization devoted to bring quality jazz and blues to the Prince George area.  One or two Canadian and local bands are scheduled per month.   Some events are concerts while others host a dance as well.  Venue and cost varies.  These dances are a wonderful opportunity to get out and swing the night away!

Blues North has moved!  Their dances are now held at the Columbus Community Centre in College Heights.  New venue = bigger dance floor!

Recent events include:

Kenny "Blues Boss" Wayne, Cal Batchelor Band, Glamour Puss, Sonny Rhodes, Gary Comeau & the Voodoo Allstars, Ray King Blues Band

Jazzmatazz Dance email Group

Need a place to practice but the bar scene isn't your thing?  Send us your email address and we'll add you to our list of dancers.  We'll send you an email notice when we hear of an upcoming dance event.

Our dance socials are aimed at dancers and dance students that just want to get out there and dance without the hassle of the bar scene.  Popular dance tunes with music from a live DJ.  This is a dry event intended to encourage the development of a dancing community in Prince George.

  •  Held at the Highland Y Community Centre (on McDermid).  Drop-in fee $5 payable at the door, free for Y members.  All adults and youth over 16 are welcome.

Described by our guests as "the best place to dance in Prince George"!
